I often get caught in the new creator trap that asks, "Who are you?" Imposter syndrome can take me down if I let it. But community building is a skill and we can all do it when we have the right tools. Thank you for your insight!
What a lovely, warm piece. I'm a Substack baby, and I think loneliness is the perfect word for this feeling of writing into the void. Thank you for the wonderful tips at the end as well. I want to have them on a needlepoint pillow by my desk!
Sometimes I don't understand what is consistency and I ignore it. But reading today this article made me realize why it is so important. It is directly linked with trust which is so fundamental for any success and especially loneliness.
Some famous people are extremelly lonely and unhappy and it is because they became famous before dealing with it or even worse because they couldn't deal with it.
Loneliness is indeed an epidemic, and so important to talk about! Especially for those of us who tend to fall into the “deadly triangle” of severely introverted solopreneur workaholics. Thank you for writing this article!
Great point! The idea of deadly triangle of introversion, solopreneurship and workaholism seems like a great next article! Sort of like a Bermuda triangle…
The strategies you gave are gold mine. Building genuine connections is key to your success especially, on Substack. It all starts with trust and for you to gain trust you must show integrity. Organizing events where you get to showcase your vulnerability and personality also helps you get genuine connections.
@magdalenaponurska Thank you for this …so much insight and goodly stuff here.
I love what you say about the uniqueness of Substack…I feel that so much. Something about being here that has given me a permission slip to continue to show up, be seen and to play with things like the podcast facility.
Your post behooves me to continue to encourage others, seek my community and be seen. Really great tricks and tips. 💫✨🪄🤩
Ahaa, bless you Mimi…I sure have needed that permission slip and I love how Substack has been the - as @magdalenaponurska puts it - “the vehicle for us to be seen, heard, and thriving.”
You’ve made my day! My intention is to inspire, encourage and lead by example where more and more communities are build, supported, embraced and the vehicles for us to be seen, heard, and thriving!
Oh Magdalena, heart apologies for taking a beat to get back to ye. It was a great read and I’m about to read through it again! Such a lovely turn of phrase: “…vehicles for us to be seen, heard, and thriving!”
I love how you blended in your personal experience with psychology and then narrowed it down to specific tips to help you build community and connections on Substack.
Thank you for featuring my work! Your work and journey truly inspire me and like I’ve mentioned before “when I grow up I want to be like you!” (lol) including running marathons!
