As a new writer, I love that despite all you've achieved, your focus is still on delivering value through your words regardless of your career trajectory, and sticking by it. That's exactly the spirit I'd like to embody throughout my journey.
Such a lovely story and I agree that the path to a writing career is anything but linear. I particularly love your approach to your LinkedIn voice. It's a platform I have recently started being more intentional with and it's great to always focus on one's writing voice. I also always tell myself that while the expression of my writing/creator career may change/evolve over time, the core which is the writing itself and what that means to me being will always remain as a huge part of my journey and life. Wonderful read, Phil.
The stubborn Hungarian, I feel liberated now, that I use the dismiss button in Grammarly so often. (Hating passive voice, not letting my emphasis being distorted, etc.) I have to find out, how I can find time to learn from Phil.
You should check in with Tahir Shah who has been self-publishing for quite awhile. He’s the son of a famous Sufi teacher, and he currently lives in Morocco. It sounds like you guys might have a lot in common. He has a Patreon account and is also on Instagram.
What a great story, thanks for breaking it down.

Good luck for the upcoming book launch!
Well said Veronica!
Beautifully told!
I thought so too. Very fresh and real.

I’m really glad you 2 are connected.
Phil is one of my favorite people on LI because he shows up as he is and that’s rare these days.
I always learn something from him and his tips for writing are spot on.
LinkedIn has been a journey, that's for sure.
Learn the rules then break them - that's my advice.
Relaxing advice!
Learn the rules, then break them.
I love this. Thank you Phil.
In other words, blend in but stand out. 🙃
A great post!

Thanks for reading, Zsolt.
Grammarly often doesn't know what it's doing!

Thanks Mombeka. Just followed him on Instagram.
Just the other week, a member of my book group was recommending Travels with Myself. I'll have to read it!
I love your story so much, Phil because I feel that it's every writer's story.
We are constantly evolving, trying new things and adapting.
I bet you could write a very different story if you were to write this in a couple of years.
In my case, my writing has taken me to public speaking and now coaching other writers. I wonder what's next and I'm open to new possibilities.
Thank you for a keeping-it-real article!
You really bigged up my sense of humour, and I put very few jokes into this piece. Haha.
Gotta follow along on LinkedIn for the funny stuff.
Hahaha, but you are funny and now people will follow you there ;)
